Robert Pattinson has previously talked about the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ film adaptation, and admitted that he actually read ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ when it used to be just Twilight fan fiction [little known fact: it used to be called ‘Masters of the Universe’]. His name has also been on most fan cast lists for the lead role of Christian Grey, which would obviously make sense considering that the character was based on Twilight’s Edward Cullen.

Now, he is opening up in an interview with MSN and joking that he ‘is’ playing’ the role of Christian Grey, adding that he actually also ‘wrote’ the Fifty Shades of Grey book. He said, “I am playing that part. I also wrote the [“50 Shades”] book.” As soon as he says this, he breaks into peals of laughter. Clearly, he doesn’t take it seriously, but in all honesty, would Rob be the right choice for Christian Grey?
The author of Fifty Shades, E.L. James, has previously dismissed Rob for the role of Christian Grey because of his leading role in Twilight. However, fans don’t necessarily agree because Rob has placed in the top ten for the LOOK Christian Grey casting poll [which was led by Ian Somerhalder and Matt Bomer].

The ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ film adaptation is tentatively set for a 2014 release date, but the only real developments so far have been the hiring of screenwriter Kelly Marcel.
