Jennifer Lawrence made headlines last week when she opened up about being a ‘fat actress’ in Hollywood. Now, she’s clearing up her comments in an interview with Access Hollywood, explaining that she was being sarcastic.
When talking about calling herself an ‘obese’ actress in last month’s Elle magazine issue, she jokes, “Sarcasm doesn’t really translate in print, does it? [Laughs].” It’s certainly true that the comments caused an unnecessary amount of furor on the internet, most of it completely unwarranted and unnecessary.
She also talked about the filming of ‘Catching Fire’ and meeting the new cast members, saying, “[‘Catching Fire’] is going really well. We’ve got a new cast and they’re wonderful. Jeffrey Wright, Jenna Malone, Amanda Plummer — and it’s going really well.”
Lawrence has currently been gaining huge buzz for her lead role in ‘Silver Linings Playbook, and many are tipping her to win the Best Actress Oscar come February. However, she does have some tough competition in the category, most notably from Marion Cotillard [Rust and Bone] as well as Jessica Chastain [Zero Dark Thirty]. Lawrence is also currently filming ‘Catching Fire’ in Hawaii, and will be wrapping the movie in December before heading into awards season campaigning.
