There have been a number of rumours about who will be directing Star Wars: Episode 7, with Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol director Brad Bird being one of the favourites. However, Brad has taken to his official Twitter account to let fans know that he will not be directing Star Wars: Episode 7.

Bird tweeted “Not doing Star Wars,” before admitting that he is making a science fiction film but it will not be Star Wars: Episode 7. Responding to a fan asking him what he will be doing next, Brad added, “A science fiction film. Not Star Wars.”
He continued with the tweets, "But the science fiction film I AM doing is gonna be cool,” before adding, “I'm not slamming Star Wars. I'm just doing 1952,” he said. “That said, Michael Arndt is a fantastic writer and Kathy Kennedy is a brilliant producer. I will be first in line to see the new Star Wars.”
